Ingredients

  • 275 g flour
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 25 g sugar
  • 50 g butter grated
  • 25 ml limoncello
  • 1 orange zested
  • 1 lemon zested
  • 200 g honey
  • Sprinkles
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  • In a large bowl mix the flour, baking powder and salt.
  • Make a well and add in the eggs, sugar, butter, limoncello and the zest of an orange and a lemon. Mix it all together with a fork. Then knead until smooth.
  • Take sections of the dough and roll them into strips. Then cut into ½ inch pieces.
  • Fry them a little at a time (do not crowd the pot) in good frying oil until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and place them onto a plate lined with paper towel.
  • In a separate pot heat the honey over low heat just until it is completely melted. Then remove the pot from the heat and add in the struffoli. Mix until completely coated with honey. Add some sprinkles and mix again.
  • Plate the struffoli right away. You can shape them into a pyramid or a donut, or however you like. Don't forget to add more sprinkles on top!
