The perfect summer snack/appetizer in under 30 minutes!
Fried Zucchini Flowers
Ingredients
- 24 zucchini flowers
- 3 eggs
- ¼ cup grated parmigiano cheese
- ¾ cup flour
- ½ cup beer/sparkling water
- high heat oil for pan frying ex. canola oil
Instructions
- Prep the flowers: carefully remove the inner stamen, then carefully wash and dry the flowers.
- Make the batter: Whisk the eggs and grated cheese. Whisk in the flour. Then whisk in the beer/sparkling water.
- Add oil to a frying pan – enough to come ¼ inch up the pan. Heat the oil over medium – high heat.
- Meanwhile have a plate lined with paper towel ready on the side.
- Drop some batter into the oil. If it quickly sizzles, you know the oil is ready.
- Dip the flowers into the batter and place them in the oil. Cook for 2-3 minutes until golden in colour and then flip. Cook another 1-2 minutes.
- Remove the flowers from the pan and place on the paper towel lined plate.
